Why do mover quotes vary so much?
Movers price by volume and effort, not distance. Two 4-room flats can differ by over S$1,000 depending on how much furniture there is, whether the lift can be used, how far the lorry parks from the door and what needs packing or dismantling.
- Volume. More belongings mean a bigger lorry or extra trips.
- Access. Stairs, long carries and lift bookings add manpower. FixMove's starting prices assume a working lift, a short carry and a single trip.
- Packing. Full packing costs more than packing yourself. Aspect Mover offers full, partial or self-pack options.
- Dismantling and disposal. Usually charged as add-ons.
- Building rules and timing. Sunny Movers notes that condo rules, peak dates and undisclosed items are the most common reasons quotes rise later.
What add-ons do movers charge for?

How do I get an accurate moving quote?
Give every mover the same inventory, photos of bulky items and details of access at both ends, then ask for a written quote that names the lorry size, crew and exclusions. FixMove and Aspect Mover both quote from photos or a site visit.
- List large items, fragile items and anything that must be dismantled.
- Say whether there is a lift at both addresses and how far the lorry can park.
- Check condo move-in rules and booking fees with management.
