In Singapore, a colonoscopy costs from about S$440 to S$940 as a subsidised day case at a public hospital, and about S$2,800 to S$5,000 at a private hospital, based on MOH bill data. Whether you are subsidised, public or private, whether polyps are removed, and the sedation used drive the bill. MediSave can offset part of it.
Figures below come from the Ministry of Health's published bill data (transacted bills from 1 January to 31 December 2023, including GST) and fee benchmarks, plus clinics' own price pages, all checked on 3 October 2026.
How much does a colonoscopy cost in Singapore?
A typical subsidised day-surgery bill for a diagnostic colonoscopy is S$644, and a typical private hospital day-surgery bill is S$3,241, according to MOH. Removing polyps raises both: S$874 subsidised and S$4,374 private for polyps under 1cm.
| Procedure and setting | Typical bill (median) | Typical range (25th to 75th percentile) |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnostic colonoscopy (SF702C), public day surgery, subsidised | S$644 | S$440 to S$937 |
| Diagnostic colonoscopy (SF702C), public day surgery, unsubsidised | S$1,740 | S$1,645 to S$2,276 |
| Diagnostic colonoscopy (SF702C), private hospital day surgery | S$3,241 | S$2,792 to S$3,827 |
| Screening colonoscopy (SF703C), public day surgery, subsidised | S$710 | S$591 to S$1,011 |
| Colonoscopy with polyp removal under 1cm (SF704C), public day surgery, subsidised | S$874 | S$629 to S$1,299 |
| Colonoscopy with polyp removal under 1cm (SF704C), public day surgery, unsubsidised | S$2,674 | S$2,350 to S$3,332 |
| Colonoscopy with polyp removal under 1cm (SF704C), private hospital day surgery | S$4,374 | S$3,863 to S$4,986 |
What are MOH's fee benchmarks for a private colonoscopy?
MOH's recommended private surgeon fee for a diagnostic or screening colonoscopy is S$1,308 to S$1,962 including GST, with S$599.50 to S$872 for an anaesthetist. With polyp removal under 1cm, the surgeon benchmark rises to S$1,853 to S$2,616.
MOH says the benchmarks are a reference for reasonable fees in routine cases, not a cap, and that doctors who charge above them should tell the patient and insurer beforehand. The benchmark covers the doctor only. Your bill also includes the hospital or day surgery facility fee and any sedation or anaesthetist fee.
Is a colonoscopy cheaper at a public hospital?
Yes, if you are a subsidised patient. MOH data shows a typical subsidised bill of S$644 against S$3,241 at a private hospital for the same diagnostic procedure. Unsubsidised patients at public hospitals paid a typical S$1,740.
Ask the public hospital how subsidised appointments, referrals and choice of doctor work. In private care you pick your specialist, and PS Tan Digestive & Liver Centre notes most insurers give full or partial cover for colonoscopy when medically necessary, subject to your plan, rider and panel rules.
How much MediSave can I use for a colonoscopy?
MediSave covers colonoscopy up to the surgical limit for its TOSP table, plus up to S$830 a day for day-surgery charges, according to MOH. For a diagnostic colonoscopy (table 2C) that is S$1,120 plus S$830; with polyp removal (table 3A) it is S$1,390 plus S$830.
MOH's surgical limits are S$1,120 for table 2C and S$1,390 for table 3A. Dr Thng Yongxian's cost page lists SF702C and SF703C as table 2C and SF704C as table 3A. Ask your clinic to confirm the code before the procedure, and check your Integrated Shield Plan for the rest.

What should I ask before booking a colonoscopy?
Ask for a written estimate that splits the doctor's fee, facility fee and sedation, and that shows what happens to the bill if a polyp is removed or a biopsy is taken. Confirm the TOSP code, the MediSave amount and whether your insurer needs pre-authorisation.
