A GP consultation starts at around S$49, a urea breath test for H. pylori costs about S$180 to S$233, and a gastroscopy ranges from about S$360 as a subsidised public patient to over S$3,400 at a private hospital.

How much does gastritis cost in Singapore?

Most people pay for a consultation, a test for H. pylori and a course of medicine. Only some need a gastroscopy, and that is where the bill climbs: a scope costs a few hundred dollars in a subsidised public setting and over S$3,000 in a private hospital.

The table below collects prices published by clinics and typical bills published by the Ministry of Health (MOH). All prices were checked on 30 October 2026.

How much does a gastroscopy cost for gastritis?

MOH's fee benchmark for a diagnostic gastroscopy (TOSP code SF701I) puts the private surgeon's fee at S$650 to S$1,100. In addition, there is an anaesthetist fee of S$550 to S$800 and a hospital day-surgery fee of S$1,000 to S$1,700 for a full private procedure.

MOH fee benchmark (private)Range (S$)Benchmark list
Surgeon fee, diagnostic gastroscopy (SF701I)650 to 1,100From 1 Jan 2025
Anaesthetist fee (SF701I)550 to 800From 1 Jan 2025
Hospital fee, day surgery (SF701I)1,000 to 1,700From 1 Apr 2024
Surgeon fee, gastroscopy with one polyp removed (SF700I)1,100 to 1,800From 1 Jan 2025

Combined, the three SF701I components come to roughly S$2,200 to S$3,600. That lines up with MOH's typical private bills: S$2,593 at Raffles Hospital (range S$2,306 to S$2,850) and S$3,455 at Parkway East (range S$2,952 to S$3,589). Clinic pages that quote these benchmark ranges describe them as before GST.

Public hospitals cost far less for subsidised patients. MOH's SF701I bill information lists typical subsidised day-surgery bills of S$360 at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, S$391 at Singapore General Hospital and S$449 at Sengkang General Hospital. Unsubsidised public bills sit at around S$1,390 (NUH) to S$1,510 (SGH). The bill pages do not say whether these figures include GST.

What changes the price of gastritis care?

The main factors are whether you see a GP or a specialist, which H. pylori test you have, whether a scope is needed, what happens during the scope, and whether you are treated as a subsidised public patient or privately.

  • GP or specialist: a published GP consultation costs S$49.05, while specialist consultations start from S$200 plus GST.
  • Type of test: an H. pylori blood test costs S$38.15 at ATA Medical, a breath test S$180 to S$233.26, and a gastroscopy far more.
  • Biopsies and anatomy: MOH links the higher end of the surgeon fee to altered anatomy and to more, or harder, biopsies.
  • Polyp removal: if a polyp is removed, the procedure becomes SF700I, with a surgeon fee benchmark of S$1,100 to S$1,800.
  • Separate fees: anaesthetist and hospital fees are charged in addition to the doctor's fee. Nexus Surgical, for example, quotes its doctors' fee for office hours and bills the hospital fee separately.
  • GST: some clinics quote before GST, and others do not say. Ask for the final figure.

Treatment length also matters for medicine costs. Richmond Gastroenterology Centre says H. pylori treatment lasts 10 to 14 days, and Aliveo Medical gives 1 to 2 weeks of eradication therapy.

Can you use MediSave or insurance for gastritis?

You can usually use MediSave and an Integrated Shield Plan for a gastroscopy, because it is a listed surgical procedure. Consultations and breath tests are different: Richmond Gastroenterology Centre notes that the breath test may not be eligible for insurance pre-authorisation.

SF701I sits in Table 1B of MOH's surgical schedule. Under the CPF MediSave limits in force since 1 April 2025, you can withdraw up to S$420 for the procedure plus up to S$830 a day for day-surgery hospital charges, so a one-day gastroscopy can draw up to about S$1,250. Lower figures of around S$600 to S$650, still seen on some clinic pages, predate these limits.

Surgicare says endoscopy can be claimed on insurance because it has a TOSP code, and its staff help with pre-authorisation. Nexus Surgical says MediSave and insurance may apply, with conditions. Check your plan's panel and pre-authorisation rules before booking a private scope.

The six clinics below publish gastritis, H. pylori or gastroscopy information, listed A to Z. Where a clinic publishes its own prices, we show them with the GST position it states. Where it does not, we say Price on enquiry.

How do you choose a clinic for gastritis?

Start with what you need. A GP can assess milder symptoms and arrange an H. pylori test, while a gastroenterologist or upper GI surgeon is the route if a scope is likely. Then compare total costs, not just the doctor's fee.

  • Ask for a written estimate covering the doctor, anaesthetist and hospital fees, and whether GST is included.
  • Ask where the scope will be done. Private clinics use a private hospital or endoscopy centre, while subsidised rates apply only at public hospitals for eligible patients.
  • Check the doctor's registration and specialty on the Singapore Medical Council's register.
  • Ask whether the clinic will help with MediSave claims and insurer pre-authorisation before the procedure.

For background on symptoms and causes, PS Tan Digestive & Liver Centre has an article on gastritis, and Richmond Gastroenterology Centre has a page on H. pylori testing and treatment.

This page is general information, not medical advice. Speak to a registered doctor.

Frequently asked questions

How much does gastritis treatment cost in Singapore?

A GP consultation costs from S$49.05 and a specialist consultation from S$200 plus GST. An H. pylori breath test costs about S$180 to S$233. If you need a gastroscopy, MOH's typical bills run from about S$360 (subsidised) to S$3,455 (private hospital). Medicine prices are not widely published.

Do I need a gastroscopy, or is a breath test enough?

That depends on your symptoms and your doctor's assessment. Clinics test for H. pylori by breath test, blood test or gastroscopy. A scope lets the doctor see the stomach lining and take biopsies, but costs much more. Your doctor will advise which test suits you.

Can I use MediSave for a gastroscopy?

Usually, yes. A diagnostic gastroscopy (SF701I) is a Table 1B procedure, so MediSave covers up to S$420 for the procedure plus up to S$830 a day for day-surgery charges. A breath test may not be eligible for insurance pre-authorisation.

How big is the gap between public and private gastroscopy?

Large. MOH's typical subsidised bills are S$360 to S$449, unsubsidised public bills are about S$1,390 to S$1,510, and private hospital bills are S$2,593 (Raffles Hospital) to S$3,455 (Parkway East).

How long does H. pylori treatment take?

Richmond Gastroenterology Centre says 10 to 14 days, and Aliveo Medical says 1 to 2 weeks. Treatment combines antibiotics with anti-acid medicine.
